5- 86 The Evans Get Involved (Part 1)

An abused and neglected child named Penny follows J.J. home. This is Janet Jackson's Good Times premiere episode.

5- 87 The Evans Get Involved (Part 2)

Penny spends time at the Evans' apartment, then suddenly disappears along with her mother. The Evans' call on the help of a social worker.

5- 88 The Evans Get Involved (Part 3)

Penny's mother turns out to be unfit for parenting. She abandons Penny at the Evans' home.

5- 89 The Evans Get Involved (Part 4)

Willona takes steps to become Penny's foster mother.

5- 90 Thelma Moves Out

Thelma is attending college and decides to move in to an apartment with three other students. But it turns out to be worse than living at home. Bear, the big football player, eats all her food. The nerd runs up astronomical phone bills - then demands she pay half. The female room-mate attempts to steal Thelma's boyfriend. In the end J.J helps Thelma move her stuff back home.

5- 91 Willona the Fuzz

After Willona catches a shoplifter at the boutique - she gets promoted to store detective. But she must spy on women in the dressing rooms all day, and she is ethically against this. J.J puts on a dress and goes into the womens dressing room in order to give Willona an important message, but Willona is on break and her boss sees it instead.

5- 92 Wheels

J.J and two friends buy Bookman's old car, hoping to share it between them for different days of the week. But selfishness and arguments ensue. J.J decides to get rid of the vehicle. Bookman offers to buy it back for half of what he just sold it for. Right after J.J gets the money in his hand, they look out the window to see the car get smashed up by a trash truck.

5- 93 Breaker Breaker

Michael discovers that the girl he has been chatting with on the CB radio is in a wheelchair.

5- 94 Bye Bye Bookman

Bookman is ignoring all the Evans' maintenance requests. So they write a letter to the city. The letter gets Bookman fired - or so it seems. Bookman fools the Evans into believing his sob stories. The Evans' go down to the city hall and beg to get Bookman his job back.

5- 95 Thelma's Brief Encounter

Thelma is dating a new man. But he won't tell her where he works. J.J goes undercover to find out. He discovers the man is a paroled convict, living at a half-way house, and that he was convicted for having two wives at once. J.J confronts the man in front of Thelma - the truth is revealed, and Thelma dumps him.

5- 96 Requiem for a Wino

Fishbone is back in town, and he stops by to visit J.J and Willona. Then he heads down to the local bar to have a few drinks. But Fishbone's wallet is stolen, and the thief gets hit by a truck and killed. The police think it is Fishbone that is dead because of the wallet. Later at the bar, a funeral service is held. Fishbone attends his own service dressed as a woman.

5- 97 Penny's Christmas

It is a week before Christmas and Penny has 11 dollars and 50 cents saved to get her mother a present. Willona and Penny go shopping. Penny goes off by herself to find the perfect gift, but becomes the victim of a pick pocket. Now she can't get her mom a gift - or can she? Penny gets arrested for shoplifting the same day the social worker shows up to finalize the adoption papers. The worker calls off the adoption because of the theft. But Willona invites the worker to the family Christmas party and manages to change her mind.

5- 98 No More Mr. Nice Guy

Power-tripping as Michael's surrogate father, J.J. lays down the law when Michael refuses to do his homework. Thelma tells J.J. to tone it down a bit, but changes her mind when Michael and Penny are caught by police joy-riding in a stolen car.

5- 99 Willona's Mr. Right

Willona's old boyfriend comes to town. He is now a successful businessman employed in the petroleum industry. He proposes to Willona on the spot, offering to move her in to a life of luxury, and business trip traveling. But Willona must refuse, because Penny would not be suited to the new life style, having to leave her school and all her friends.

5- 100 J.J. and the Boss's Daughter

J.J is dating the boss's daughter. But then he decides to break a date with her and go to the roller derby instead. She threatens to get him fired, and claims he only has the job because of her. J.J talks to his boss and finds out the truth - he is employed because he is a good artist.

5- 101 Where There's Smoke

There is a small fire in the Evans' apartment. Willona demands an explanation. She gets three different stories from Michael, Thelma, and J.J. Then finally, Penny admits that she had been playing with a cigarette.

5- 102 I Had a Dream

J.J has a strange dream. He dreams that he is a white man, and has won a promotion at the office. This episode was parodied by The Wayans Bros. in 1996, BernNadette Stanis (Thelma), Johnnie Brown (Bookman), and Ja'Net DuBois (Willona) all made guest appearances. 5- 103 The Boarder

The Evans' need extra money to help pay bills, so they rent out a room. The new tennant turns out to be in hiding, and waiting to testify at an important trial. The Evans' are terrified. The criminal shows up, but instead of killing the tennant, he sends him to Mexico with $25'000 in bribe money.

5- 104 J.J's Condition

J.J has an affair with a married woman. This causes him to develop an ulcer.

5- 105 Willona The Other Woman

Is Bookman having an affair with Willona? Mrs. Bookman seems to think so.

5- 106 Something Old, Something New

The Evans' family convince their grandfather to marry his lady friend that he has been living with since his wife's death.

5- 107 Willona's New Job

Willona's old boyfriend is back again, trying to get her to marry him. She is considering, but then she gets a promotion at the boutique. He tries to convince her to quit because he will be making more than enough money. She decides to take the new job whether he likes it or not. The next day Willona reports to work and discovers that her boyfriend has purchased the boutique!

5- 108 Write on, Thelma

Thelma is producing a local play. But she disagrees with the director who wants to make too many changes to the script.

5- 109 That's Entertainment, Evans Style!

The neighborhood is in need of a quality day care center. The Evans family holds a benefit show to help raise the money.
